Deer Creek Speedway 8/30/14 USMTS
Sput's Customers Conquer The Creek
The USMTS tour made a stop at Deer Creek Speedway Saturday night. With the stands full and some serious equipment filling the pits it was going to be a real barn burner of a race as this was also a Casey's Hunt event for the touring titans. Rolling out for the USMTS Main Event Jonny Scott would set the pace but not for long as Sput's customers Jason Cummins, Brad Waits were on the move. Cummins would 4th on lap 4--3d on lap 5 and then would sneak by Waits for 2nd with 9 laps complete. On lap 14 Cummins would scoot by and take control and lead till the end of the 35 lap event. Cummins would park his Sidebiter/Sput's machine in victory lane and snag the check for $3,000. What was more impressive for the young New Richland driver is he was using an IMCA machine for his weapon which he was getting ready for the Boone Supernationals.
Winner-Jason Cummins Sidebiter/Sput's $3,000
2nd-Brad Waits LG2/Sput's $1,700
4th-Tommy Myer Ramirez/Sput's $1,300
Mike Blowers has had a great season up till last weekend when his Player/Sput's machine decided to find the wall and destroy the front end. With a week full of heavy work the Blowers team had the machine back and ready for action at Lansing Raceway Friday night, but with that being rained out the team would turn to Saturday night at the Creek. The repair work done by the team worked was flawless and the 34 machine took off where it left off with. Starting in the 6th spot Blowers would snag the win and secure his track championship as well.
